So we have a group of Senior politicians from around the globe meeting together to try and co-ordinate policy to do what exactly? Each country wants to see a major shift in their economies for the better but like the Euro plainly doesn't work with the one glove fits all policy neither will any agreement reached by such diverse economies as makes up the G8 let alone the G20.
How can an authoritarian Communist state like China find a solution that fits with the policies needed to promote growth in Germany or Italy of France? It wont happen. Then you have Russia which to a large extent has the foot on the peddle of the Energy business within its own borders and can largely turn taps on and off at will.
It generates most of its income along with countries like Australia from extracting resources from its lands and selling these to their needy neighbours.
Then we have Countries with large financial services sectors who many feel are responsible for the devastation of the financial services industries across the globe in particular the American economy which exported its devastating debts and fraud around the globe faster than a computer virus and for which the rest of the world has little chance of getting any recompense.
America owes the world more trillions than we will ever be told either now or in the future with its selling onto the worlds financial institutions what was little more than a pyramid scheme on a scale which can only be described as continental and now America is looking to lay the law down about how the rest of the world should run its finances so as to ensure that the US can return to a sustainable growth and if truth be told the American government is only interested in what happens withing its own shores and about the re-election of Obama and the pantomime of the next presidential election which will be taking over our screens before you know what as hit us.
Once the pantomime does hit our screens Obama will be preoccupied with his re-election and have little consideration of anything that is taking place globally which is why these meeting are little more than a talking shop where nothing happens.
Very few large gathering actually ever produce anything that is workable and once the group grows beyond the few pan continental agreements are even less likely to be achieved. What right has Obama to object to how china pegs its currency? if he doesn't like it he should revalue the dollar and not be telling others how to run their budgets. It is Obama that has the crazy budget deficit that only a major war would get rid of.
The few organisations that do seem to have a bit of an accord is the commonwealth which has a none elected head to move things along in the right direction. How much easier would things be if the worlds nations were run by absolute monarchs? Prince Charles gets along just fine with many of the Royals from around the globe a quiet letter here and there gets things done in a fraction of the time and effort of wheels of government as can be seen from his contacts with the Qatari Royal family and the planning officials in London.
